Access to pools and open water facilities can vary significantly depending on how freediving is understood by operators. Venue managers often seek clarity around safety protocols, liability and oversight. New participants may find it difficult to understand the different agencies, club options and how the sport is organised.

At elite level, UK athletes currently have no formal access to nationally coordinated training or competition support structures, unlike athletes in some other established freediving nations where such frameworks are already in place.

At present, there is no single forum through which shared questions around facility access, safeguarding, athlete development or public engagement can be discussed collectively across the community.

The purpose of this proposal is to create a structured space where these practical matters can be addressed transparently and constructively.
