Freediving is breath-hold diving practiced recreationally and competitively in pools and open water.
In the UK, the community includes independent recreational divers, commercial schools, instructors, clubs and elite athletes, operating across the two main international competition frameworks, AIDA and CMAS, alongside multiple educational agencies.
Freediving in the UK has grown rapidly in recent years. There is no shared, neutral space where the wider community can coordinate or speak publicly with a collective voice.
The UK Freediving Council is a proposal to create such a space, independent of any single organisation.
