Proposed Structure

The proposed structure is based on defined membership categories and elected representation.

Members would register under one primary category:

  • Club organiser (non-profit community groups)
  • School owner / Instructor (commercial educators)
  • Recreational freediver
  • Athlete

Each member would hold:

  • One general vote on overall direction
  • One vote on matters specific to their registered category

From these four categories, one representative would be elected by members within each category.

In addition:

  • The BFA would be invited to appoint a representative should it wish to participate.
  • UKCMAS may be invited to appoint a representative if appropriate within its remit.
  • An independent procedural advisor may be appointed by the elected representatives to support coordination and process, without voting power.

The Chair would be elected from among the four category representatives and would serve alongside their primary role.

This model aims to balance representation across recreational, commercial and competitive participation, while preventing concentration of decision-making within any single group.
