The proposed UK Freediving Council is intended as a representative forum for communication and coordination across the sport. Its purpose would be to provide a structured space for dialogue, information-sharing and collective discussion of shared issues.

It is not proposed as a governing body, regulatory authority or certification agency, and it would not replace existing organisations or assume their roles.

Any development beyond facilitation and coordination would require clear and explicit community consent.

The proposed initial remit would be limited to:

  • Facilitating communication between different parts of the community
  • Improving clarity around roles, structures and responsibilities
  • Identifying areas where coordination may be beneficial
  • Supporting coherent engagement with public bodies and facilities where appropriate
